Halloween Costume Guidelines

This year, MMS has decided to bring back the tradition of wearing costumes to school on Halloween, October 31st!  In order to make the day a success, we want to go over a few guidelines.

Basic Costume Don’ts:

  1.  Costumes may not have parts that interfere with learning.  This means no masks or costumes that restrict movement or vision, prevent sitting at desks, or prevent participation in physical education class.
  2. Costumes may not be violent or suggestive.
  3. Costumes may not promote violence or have accessories or props that could  be used as a weapon.
  4. Costumes must be appropriate in length as described in the school dress code.

All students participating must come to school dressed in their costumes -- no getting ready in the building.  Therefore, students should not bring makeup or hair products to school.  Anyone found with those items will have them confiscated.  They will not be returned.  Candy is also not allowed at school --please save your trick-or-treating for the evening.

Please remember that this is still a school day.  Students are expected to fully participate in each class throughout the day.   Students should bring a change of clothing, in case their costume is deemed inappropriate by the administration or becomes distracting to the learning process.  We are looking forward to everyone following the guidelines, coming up with creative costumes, and having fun!
